In 1930, Paul Simmons began operating a home fuel business. Today this company, Biltmore Oil, is a diversified corporation comprising residential, commercial and retail divisions.

The Eblen Family still owns and operates Biltmore Oil and Eblen Short Stop Stores.The names Eblen and Biltmore Oil have become synonymous in Asheville with community involvement and philanthropy, as exemplefied by the Eblen Charities, a foundation which directly benefits local citizens.
